Pewsheet 8th May 2016

‘How can we be ‘one’, as Jesus prays in today’s Gospel, when we are all so different?

How far should we expect people to become like us, and what is God’s way forward for the human race?’

O God the King of glory,

you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ

with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:

we beseech you, leave us not comfortless,

but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us

and exalt us to the place where our Saviour Christ is gone before,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Acts 16.16-34

John 17.20-end

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Hayley Boyland of True North Graphics, the Minster Church now has a brand new logo of which to be very proud! Following a period of development, discussion and decision making the winning design was unanimously chosen from a final selection. Copies of the new logo have been enlarged, printed out and pinned up at the back of the church so you are able to have a look. We hope you like it.

Call to Prayer

Ministry is empty and barren without prayer.

A letter from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York has recently been sent out to every serving parish priest in the Church of England in a Call to Prayer in the week leading up to Pentecost.

“We long to see a great wave of prayer across our land, throughout the Church of England and many other Churches. Our hope is:-

  • for all Christians to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • for all of us to have confidence to share the Gospel.
  • for all to respond to the call of Jesus Christ to follow Him as disciples, to live out the Gospel and to seek God’s kingdom from day to day.”

There is time to pray together on Saturday the 14th May in the Minster Church at The Upper Room worship time.
